(Chuck Muth) – The 3 most important factors in getting people to read your subject lines and open your emails aren’t exactly rocket surgery.
If you answer one or more of these three questions with your headline, you have a shot at getting your message read…
- Does the subject line tell the reader that what follows is about THE READER?
- Is the subject material something the reader already knows about (not interested) or something the reader does not already know about (interested)?
- Does the headline or subject line promise a benefit to the reader in exchange for the reader reading on.
Cute and clever headlines and subject lines such as “Did you hear?” don’t cut it (DE-LETE!).
And making the headline or subject line about you instead of the reader isn’t going to get you very far either.
Ditto the body of your message!
