(Chuck Muth) – Sometimes you just can’t improve upon perfection.
So this week I’m just going to quote Richard Viguerie – the “Funding Father” of the modern conservative movement, who’s forgotten more about political marketing than I’ll ever know – from his December “Monthly Marketing Letter” to conservative leaders…
“A mistake most conservative (campaigns and organizations) make is to have the communication – postal, email, blog, website, etc. – be all about asking for money. But by also including ideas and suggestions as to how the recipients of the communication can advance the cause, in addition to a donation, you greatly enhance your credibility and effectiveness. It sends a message that you do not consider them an ATM machine.
“Of course, I’m not saying every communication should have a call-to-arms or suggestions for action – but do it when appropriate and often.
“By the way, when your donor/supporter/listener/reader urges 10-20-50+ family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and church members to go to your website and watch a three-minute video, download an article or e-book, get a free bumper sticker, etc., and they like the information/material you provided – these new people will also see your request for a donation or sign-up for your free newsletter, blog, podcast, etc., and many more will become your new supporters.”
Exactly.
Which is why every campaign or organization website MUST have a “Blog” page where new content is constantly and consistently added. New content gives people – even existing supporters – a reason to go to, or go back to, your website.
Where you’ll have a FAR better chance to get them to sign up, volunteer or donate.
Mr. Viguerie concluded…
“The primary purpose of turning your supporters into modern-day, conservative Paul Revere riders is to have them educate their family, friends, neighbors and others that the Democrats are anti-God, anti-American, anti-police, soft on crime, open borders, elite socialists/Marxists. This will have the effect of connecting most national problems in America to Democrat politicians and the Democrat Party.”
If you’re looking for a campaign platform to run on, this is a pretty darn good place to start!
P.S. If you haven’t read Mr. Viguerie’s book, “Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It,” get thee to a book store TODAY.
